This is the second time we went for our dinner. Love the food. It is so fresh, especially the nachos, guacamole and the salsa. The place is small because it is a family owned business. As fas as the old lady, she is not rude and was quite helpful. She even gave us champage for toast when we mentioned it was our anniversary. I would go back again and again for the food..
This is second time I have been to this restaurant and am still surprised by the poor reviews. The 'rude old lady' that people talk of has always been nothing but pleasant and nice to us-taking the time to explain about the various tequilas she has, and how to make a great margarita. I strongly encourage you to check out this establishment for great authentic Mexican food, huge portions and friendly service. I suspect the reviews that are negative are not giving you the complete details of their experience.
I went to Cantina with some friends Saturday night. It was amazing! We sat on there cute patio. This place has been here for 8 years. Its family runned. The owners Daughter is back from school who is one of the best servers I have ever had. She really makes sure your doing fine and that you are comfortable. The food was amazing. It felt like I was really in Mexico and that I was even at my own home. Sometimes people have a bad day because no one is perfect. The owner lost her husband not too long ago so people should understand that no one is perfect. I have come here many times with just my partner and had no problems. I would totally recommend this place to anyone.
Hi All; After reading all the comments and visiting the restaurant with a few colleagues from work, I’ve decided to write a few words. First there’s no doubt that the food was really good as well as the presentation, no comments about that. Second I do agree with all of you that the lady is a bit rude, for instance I have asked for a drink with no ice and she noted that on a piece of paper, 15 minutes later she comes back with ice in my drink and when I said I’ve asked for no ice, I’m like Oh My God, the way she stared at me, I was willing to suck it up and have anything that I was offered at the moment. But she did bring me another one, but again the looks on her face. Third, yeah the service was really slow, like really slow (almost an hour to get our food), no waiters, I know that is understandable since it’s a family business but I’ve been to a couple of mexican in downtown Toronto, but they were amazing. Fourth one of my colleagues who was sitting at the table, spoke Spanish and seriously we stayed there for like an hour and a half and this is the only time the she smiled and on top he got some extra attention and some Guacamole as well. Fifth they won’t come and check on you if you need anything or even ask you if the food is good. Overall, I might think of going back only if I’m craving for some Mexican food and not feel like driving, since I live close by.
I think this restaurant is very authentic looking, inside & out. The food tastes very authentic. The restaurant gives a feeling as though you are actually in Mexico. It's not fancy by any means but comfortable and I feel like family there every time we go. The older lady is not as bad as she sounds. She does check your plate to see if you've eaten every bit though!!! haha. My children really love going there and the older lady does take her time with the food, it is Mexico time in this restaurant. To sum it up it's not fast take out but reallly great, huge portions type of food. We have been going to many years and plan to for many more.
