The first time I went here I was quite disappointed with my dinner. It lacked flavour and the parts that did have flavour were far too spicy. After waiting several months I ordered take out with my friend last week and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure why it took so long to try this place out, after all, it's only 5 minutes away from my house. I'm glad I did, as it was a nice surprise. Featuring quite a big menu, with some good specials, there is something for everyone here. As with most Chinese restaurants, the portions are very big, but I found the prices to be lower than normal. The quality of the food and the speed at which it was cooked was impressive. With the exception of the egg rolls (which are obviously precooked and heated up), everything tasted hot and fresh. Very friendly guys work there and delivery is free over a certain amount. They do need to add a tip column to their receipt when they deliver though! All in all, a great little Chinese take-out place that I will definitely use again. The 'Atmosphere' is pretty irrelevant since it's really only take-out. There are 3 or 4 tiny tables in there, but I can't imagine anyone using them. Read more

I had been to JJ Japanese Thai beforehand and was never disappointed. This was my third visit and I was more than pleased. The restaurant was nicely decorated with beautiful table linens, wall decorations, and pillows. The servers were kind and attentive. Our server, whose name was Alina, was so kind and friendly, she asked us if there was anything we needed on a consistent basis and also provided free ice cream for being such great customers! I was pleasantly impressed. The food was amazing, the pad thai was filling and excellent, along with the maki. I would come back here in a heartbeat, no doubt about it! Read more

We ordered Chicken kothu parotta and Mutton kothu parotta online for takeout, which was really easy and fast. The kothu parotta is made with diced parotta and mixture of eggs,chicken/mutton and spices and served with gravy. It tasted really good and had fair amount of quantity for the price. Delicious food! I don't know why the other reviews are so bad, but this was by far the best chinese food I have ever had! I went in with my friend and the service was awesome! We were seated immediately, and our food came in about 5-10 minutes! The owner was so nice, and the atmosphere was cozy! The food was delicious! YOU MUST try the general chicken! I had the spicy sezchuan noodle bowl with beef and handmade noodles (D9). The noodles were chewy and delicious. The broth was flavourful. There was a good amount of tender pieces of beef in it. Also got some free chinese kimchi to start the meal, which was pretty good. All in all, a great meal and fair price. Will be back for sure! Read more

My boyfriend and I often go here because it's the only Dim Sum we know that uses carts in Mississauga. We particularly like it as they seem to have a much wider selection (e.g. crab claws, suckling pig) than normal restaurants which serve Dim sum. In terms of quality, I don't think they are best. I have had much better quality of food at other restaurants. Also, even though the selection is vast... What happened to the shui mai? How do you have crab claws and not shui mai?!?! (Edit: Found out you need to order the shui mai... I did and it was not good at all) I noticed the cart ladies seem to be a bit more strange than at other restaurants... Some will FLY past you, others will scream food names right at you. It is kind of fun for me and my boyfriend to laugh about. (I should note we are both Chinese and both have gone to various restaurants for Dim Sum, and we notice the cart ladies here are particularly strange) What I found particularly interesting is how many non-Chinese people eat here. I think it's the only Dim sum place I have seen to have such a variety of people here. I should note that this place gets amazingly busy around noon. My boyfriend and I tend to go around 10:30 or 11 and usually find a seat quickly. If you come at 12 (especially looking for a larger table) you are doomed! haha So to sum it up: -Amazing and sometimes unique selection... except that the shui mai has disappeared! -Decent food quality but not the best. E.g. The shrimp in the ha gow tastes fishy, the dough fritter in the chun fun is soggy sometimes, the spare ribs in the black bean spare ribs w/rice are so boney ahhh! -Strange cart ladies lol. Sometimes rude, sometimes friendly -Get there before 12 if you don't like waiting! It's actually more normal to eat Dim sum earlier in the day anyway :). Also, it seems one reviewer on here stated that the adults and kids are noisy. This is normal for a Chinese restaurant, especially as one as big as Emerald. Read more
