Magical patios in Vancouver's Kitsilano
Once the rains break in Vancouver and the sun comes out, it’s time to start enjoying the city’s patios. Displace Hashery
3293 4th Ave W, Vancouver, BC V6K 1R8This space has been reworked several times over the years, but one thing that’s remained the same is the absolutely stunning patio. Located on West 4th Avenue, it gets great sun throughout the late spring and into the early fall, and even though it’s right on the street, its more residential locale keeps the street noise tolerable. The combination of great food and a distinctly hip atmosphere makes Displace's patio one of the best around.
The Naam Office
2724 4th Ave W, Vancouver, BC V6K 1R1The patio here doesn’t catch the summer sun like the others, but it offers a magical charm. Tucked in-between the restaurant and the building next door, the patio is an oasis in the heart of Kitsilano, with large trees that provide shade from the midday sun and heaters that keep the space warm into the night. The laidback atmosphere and vegetarian menu make this a must-try spot.
Darby's Pub
2001 MacDonald St, Vancouver, BC V6K 3Y2One of the oldest bars in the neighbourhood, Darby’s is a popular haunt — especially in summer when locals head on up to the rooftop patio. While it might not boast the same stunning views you’d get along the water, it’s removed from the street and offers an escape from the bustle of everyday life. It also has one of the best selections of craft beer in town, making it the perfect spot to try something new.
LOCAL Public Eatery Kitsilano
2210 Cornwall Ave, Vancouver, BC V6K 1B5Across the street from Kits beach, the atmosphere here is a little more laidback than at The Boathouse, but Local Public Eatery lays claim to nearly the same stunning view. The patio gets full sun in the summer and can get quite hot, but large umbrellas can easily be moved into place for shade. It’s a great spot to watch people walking to and from the beach or to enjoy one of the many craft beers they have on tap.
Chewie Hospitality Corp
2201 Yew St, Vancouver, BCJust up the street from Local you’ll find Chewies. The patio isn’t as big as some of the others in the neighbourhood, but that doesn’t stop it from being among the best. It gets full sun in the summer and has heaters for cooler evenings. The food is fresh seafood with a focus on oysters and Southern favourites. It is also one of the only places in town where you can get chicken and waffles for brunch.
