Located in the University Village, this café serves hearty portions of cozy comfort-food faves. For breakfast, you can order the basics: eggs, pancakes, toast, hash browns, muffins and omelettes. For lunch, the soups, sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, and burgers are popular choices. While the menu is far from gourmet, it’s focused on classic dishes most students know and love.
“Organic” and “affordable” don't always go together – but at Agora Café that's exactly what you get. Here, UBC students can enjoy organic lunches and goodies right on campus at surprisingly affordable prices. The menu is small and features a $4 lunch entrée special that changes daily. Students can also buy sandwiches, soup with toast and a frittata with a side salad, all for only $3. The delicious Agora granola snacks are a popular draw, and at $1 each, they're an inexpensive way to grab something healthy on the go.
Sprouts brings affordable, healthy and sustainable food to the UBC campus. It’s a 100% volunteer and student-run café with a compassionate mindset. Every Friday evening, they serve healthy, vegan meals to students by donation – so struggling students can enjoy a nutritious meal at little cost. Sprouts serves hot lunches, coffee, baked goods and organic, locally grown produce daily. They’re located in the basement of the old SUB.
Open 24/7, this award-winning vegetarian restaurant has long been a hotspot for UBC students pulling all-nighters or taking a well-deserved study break. The Naam serves high quality, tasty dishes made with local ingredients. They also have live entertainment every night – featuring mostly blues, folk and jazz artists – which adds to the chill vibe and creates the perfect spot for students to unwind. Popular menu choices are the Italian Melt, Grilled Cheese, Chili Burritos and the Curry Dinner Special.
Pizza is a staple food choice for busy students with little time to cook. Located on campus, and with both delivery and take-out options available, it doesn't get more convenient than Pizza Garden. For only $2.50 a slice, you can get a high quality, wood-fired slice of veggie or meat pizza here. Specializing in Neapolitan-style pizza, they make their own dough daily with 100% Caputo flour imported from Italy – and it comes out crispy every time.
